JUDE'S NURSERY! Plus London's playroom and our house :)
Monday, May 23, 2011 at 10:03PM Now its time to post Jude's entire nursery! We did A LOT of the things you see in there ourselves, so I will probably describe some of the pics as I go.
Also, we created a playroom for London out of our bonus room last fall and I never posted pictures! So I've included those, as well as just a couple of pics of some of the rest of our house.
*****
Here is our living room/bfast room (you can't see the dining room and foyer behind me) The couch/loveseat were gifts from my parents for graduation and the rest is from Target. Even though that picture of London is from when she was a week old, I just can't ever make myself change it...

This is our master bedroom...at Christmas and not at Christmas haha...the white furniture is from my childhood and the black end tables are from Wal-mart, about $30 each. The black dresser was free...we painted it black and changed the hardware to silver knobs.

Here is London's room! We are planning on giving her a "big girl" room this fall, hopefully after baby Jude has been here for a while. She will be about 2 1/2 then :) Her crib and rocker were from Wal-Mart, the changing table JCPenney for super cheap and the black dresser again was free- painted and re-hardwared. The chandelier is from walmart.com for only $40! My mom made the curtains out of $1/yard fabric, adn the sheep themed items (bedding, stuffed sheep, and picture above the changing table) were 66% off from Pottery Barn baby. London was about 6 months old in one of these pictures! And please excuse the black sheet up on her window in one of them...it makes it so much darker in there for naps.

Next is London's playroom! See her first birthday party decorations here. Notice a connection? :) I worked so hard on all of her first bday party things I decided that I wanted to use them again. So, for a while they stayed in the garage...but then made their way into London's playroom! It saved us so much time and money...I didn't have to throw them away, make anything new, or buy things for the walls. It is now also our guest room...so the couch is a (very comfy!) couch bed. My mom used the table fabrics from her party to make the curtains and pillows! The table is from Way Basics and is actually a really thick cardboard...their stuff is super cute and super inexpensive. Of course daddy's TV and PS3 are up there too, thankfully hidden in a TV cabinet we bought several years ago...but it is a really cool multi-purpose room, simply because when we moved in there were already 3 gigantic toy boxes built into the window wall. They go all the way across the wall and serve as a bench seat, but at night when we are up there after she goes to bed OR when guests are here it doesn't even seem like a playroom.

I am also one of those moms that has 15,000 pictures of her kid in the house...so if you go from the kitchen to London's playroom you will literally see one gigantic wall of London and then going up the entire stairway on one side. :)

Didn't do any pictures of the kitchen or bathrooms...our guest room was pretty cool too...but now it has turned into something even MORE cool...Jude's nursery!
Ok, so here it is. We worked on this thing at night after London went to bed...so it was kind of drawn out and took a lot longer than if we didn't have a toddler to chase around ;) Thankfully we do! After some iTunes, Pandora radio, arguments, and late nights we finally finished. The furniture choices were as follows: orange vintage rocker/recliner (in amazing condition) from Craigslist for $40. Vintage buffet table (it also came with a cool china cabinet on top that we are saving for later) from Bartlett Antiques for $165. It has so much storage! Vintage dresser for $99 from Salvation Army. I polished it and added painted cork Retro shapes to the fronts of the drawers to make it look extra-70's. And last is the crib, brand new from Wal-Mart for $99.
The bedding fabrics were chosen by me and sewn by a seller from Etsy. My mother made the curtains out of fabric I picked out from Hancock's. I made the mobile from sticks, hemp string (which smelled REALLY funny...) and the free bird decals that came with the TREE decals on the walls! Those were a doozie...beautiful, but took 6.5 hours and 3 nights (and many arguments) to put up. We love them, though! Got those from Etsy as well. The JUDE letters I made from picture frames I painted brown, scrapbook paper, feathers, moss, and cardboard letters. And the amazing "J" over the changing table was painted by hand by my husband, the scientist, who aparently has some serious paiting skills! If you've ever asked him to help paint your house, you know what I mean...this guy can paint trim and celings with no tape AND get an A in Organic Chemistry.
I recovered the drum shade on the chandelier as well, and purchased the white lamp base on the (amazing) tree branch table (from Target) by the recliner for $2 at a yard sale down the street. I also recovered that lamp shade and the green one on the changing table.
Almost all the non-made accessories came from Target! Woop woop!
The point of me telling you about all of the things in our house as far as prices and how we got them is that we is cheap and we is proud of it! We aren't big ticket buyers...a little creativity and some hours of work with not a lot of money can still get you some cool junk.
Now, I will shut my big old mouth and let yo usee the pictures of baby Jude's "vintage woodland" nursery!

Ginny, your house is gorgeous!!! You are such a great decorator!!! Whenever I have a kid I might have to steal some ideas from you, but don't worry I'll give you all the credit! Very cute Jude room and I love London's rooms too. I guess in order for my husband to let me start painting furniture I need to buy some stuff from goodwill or something because he turns me down everytime I ask to paint a peice of furniture...he just doesn't get it!
OK... your house should be in a home magazine or something! It is awesome!!! You're a wonderful designer, Ginny! And Jude's room is great! I LOVE it!!
I LOVE the vintage woodland theme :) I have a little handmade wallet in the same bird fabric too, isn't it adorable?! And, that orange chair totally rules. I love how a lot of the decorations are handmade, that's awesome!
London and Jude's room are crazy creative. You have a genuinely amazing use of color and visual texture. I'd love to talk to you about featuring their rooms at Baby Lifestyles. Email me if you're interested. Great job! - Tara
Wow!!!!!! You are truly amazing and inspiring!
Hi Ginny! can you tell me, on London's name in the playroom, for the letters- did you just free hand draw those, or did you use a stencil? I love the "style" and I am doing something similar in my kiddo's playroom. Thanks!
Hey Mandy! I actually printed a large font for each letter from the computer and then used them to trace a letter on scrapbook paper...but now I would probably just use my Cricut machine :) Although I still think freehand is best!
simply wonderful....SO creative and your mix of textiles and colors is simply right on...congrats for a beautiful room!
I am In.Love. with the dot tree in the playroom. Can you tell me what it is made of? How did you attach it? So so cute!
Sure, it is just made out of scrapbook paper and then prints I took. They are individual dots with layers of paper...and then I attached each dot to the wall with clear packing tape rolled on the back. I also have a couple bows made out of ribbons attached to some dots, I think I did that with hot glue. Hope that helps!
I am absolutely in love with your home! It's the perfect combination of eclectic, modern, homey, colorful fabulousness! So awesome!!
Most commonly used Christmas decorating colors are white, red and green. But nowadays, colors like orange, blue, yellow, pink are best seen combined with silver or gold.
I am delighted to find many useful things here, that's superb. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! wonderful and awesome decoration. I love orange color sofa. is it cheap sofa?
On your tree made from multi-colored circles, how did you get them to stick to a painted wall?
Thanks!
Buying antique furniture has a dual appeal. On one hand it is the pleasure to be taken by filling one's home with antiques, fine creations of craftsmen & on the other it is the possibility of later financial gain as well chosen antique furniture appreciates in value.
Your house is GORGEOUS. Not having any decorating talent myself, I'm really jealous. I'm going to have to study your pictures and see if I can figure out how to make my house a fraction as beautiful as yours. :)
This house can be a dream house of everyone . It is so beautiful and the designs are unique. I hope I can have a house like that.
It looks absolutely fantastic. You have done an amazing siting and I’m really impressed.
